SRINAGAR, June 30: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) today called for a Valley-wide shutdown tomorrow against the implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Maintaining its opposition to the new tax regime, the KTMF president Muhammad Yasin Khan told a press conference here that they are ready to go to any extent but won’t allow GST implementation. “We won’t allow GST implementation which talks about ‘one India, one tax’. We are ready to present our lives but no to GST,” he added.

The KTMF president said that the traders of the Kashmir are not ready to compromise on their stand vis-à-vis GST. “We are ready to tolerate any loss. But we won’t change our position and won’t allow erosion of our present system,” said Khan who was flanked by other trade leaders.
Announcing shutdown for tomorrow, he said that a ‘Bandh’ would be observed in Kashmir and claimed that traders from areas of Jammu Division are also supporting the call. “The business community of Chenab and Pir Panjal region of Jammu has also extended support to our call,” he said, adding that a sit-in protest would be held in Srinagar.
