Traders protest against ERA, PWD, R&B

JAMMU, July 30: Traders of New Plot, Janipur, Bantalab and Amphalla led by president, Jammu West Assembly Movement, Sunil Dimple, closed their shops from early morning, blocked the road and demonstrated on Janipur-High Court road protesting against ERA, PWD and R&B Departments alleging that they had made their life miserable.
Addressing the protesters, Dimple said that neither PWD nor ERAis ready to blacktop the New Plot, Janipur-High Court road and the other roads of the West Assembly constituency. He demanded blacktopping of all the roads within one week.
He alleged that due to the sewerage project, the beauty of the City of Temples has been destroyed, as the roads and lanes are in worst condition, traffic scenario has been collapsed and trade and business have come to a halt.
Dimple demanded compensation for the traders and shopkeepers whose business has been badly affected by the ERA works.
Later Chief Engineer, PWD R&B Sheikh Mustafa along with other officers of PWD and ERA visited the spot and pacified the agitators by assuring that the temporary blacktopping of roads will be done within a week as demanded by them.
