NEW DELHI, Dec 12: Displaying their anger and resentment against proposed move of MSME Ministry to join hands with Amazon & Flipkart for on boarding of traders on their e- commerce portals, large number of traders today staged a huge demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and called upon Union MSME Minister to reject any such proposed move as the traders will not accept any kind of collusion between Government with Amazon & Flipkart.
Government joining hands with established tax avoiders who are known for their ulterior motives and unhealthy business practices over the globe is highly deplorable. These companies are habitual economic offenders who have a mandate to control and monopolise the e- commerce and retail business of the Country and it is very unfortunate that MSME Ministry is falling in their trap. If the Ministry is so serious, let it create an independent e- commerce portal and the traders of the Country will support such initiative and will do every bit of it to onboard 7 crore traders of the Country on such e- commerce portal,” Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said.
Neeraj Anand, National vice president, CAIT and president Chamber of Traders Federation led a delegation from Jammu and Kashmir and joined the protest. In his address, Neeraj Anand said Jammu Kashmir continues to suffer due to long spell of turmoil and bad policies like continuation of Toll Tax even after implementation of GST. He said unethical trade practices hit small traders and snatch their livelihood. Business in Jammu Kashmir is passing through a difficult phase added Neeraj while questioning the Government policies.
Earlier, under the umbrella of the CAIT large number of traders staged a big demonstration at Jantar Mantar against the violation of FDI policy by Amazon & Flipkart on its e-commerce portals and said that it is nothing but a deep rooted conspiracy of Amazon and Flipkart to enter into crony capitalism under the garb of bringing foreign investment which is being used for cash burning in maintaining predatory pricing and deep discounting, controlling inventory, having preferential seller system.
National president of CAIT BC Bhartia and secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said that both these companies are greatly indulging into huge losses of thousands crores of rupees of GST revenue by artificial lowering down the prices and by showing huge losses in their business, these companies are avoiding Income Tax liability have GST revenue of thousands of crores of rupees and therefore the CIAT has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to conduct an investigation on these serious charges of tax avoidance.
Announcing the next phase of the national movement against Amazon and Flipkart, Bhartia and Khandelwal said that on December 24, families of traders across the country will protest against this issue. On December 27, traders in various cities of all states will go on a day-long token hunger strike.
