Looking to increase in traffic accidents in the city of Jammu, the DGP K Rajindra has suggested setting up of Traffic Police Stations across the city so that effective monitoring of the ever increasing traffic accidents can be prevented. He has also suggested the need to bring to book all traffic defaulters who at will break traffic rules. The suggestion is welcome but why not install or repair the automatic traffic signalling devices throughout the city? Secondly, what about anywhere and everywhere stoppages of the matador vehicles either to drop or to get in the passengers and stoppages right in the middle of the road? What about almost all public roads in the interior city choked on both sides with the parking of vehicles as the owner do not have their respective spaces at home to park their vehicles? Due to this menace, it is impossible not only to respond to emergencies like hospitalizations and fighting fires or reaching Police help to the needy but even walking is almost impossible. Last but not the least, the uniforms of the traffic cops need to be immediately changed as both the colour and the style of uniforms do not make the cops look active, smart, recognizable and assertive. What about increasing the number of personnel?
