Traffic Constable among two killed, one injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Apr 25: Two persons including a constable of Traffic Wing of J&K police were killed while one another was injured in two separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police official, a speeding bike which was on its way from Jammu to Udhampur hit the parapet near Panjgrian Ashram, this morning. In the mishap, bike rider, Rishi (25) son of Ravinder as well as pillion rider, Sagar (16) son of Joginder Kumar, both residents of Bhawani Nagar (Jammu), received serious injurious. They were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where Sagar succumbed to his injuries at about 1.15 PM.
The dead body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completion of all medico-legal formalities while Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK02BM-3929 tonight at about 8.45 hit a bike bearing registration number JK08B-2669 near Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu and seriously injured its rider, who was identified as Traffic Head Constable Desh Bandhu, son of Rasila Ram, resident of Thara Kalwal (Billawar).
The injured cop was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital while Nowabad police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the truck driver namely Mangal Dass, son of Bittu Ram, resident of Simbli (Jammu). Both the vehicles involved in the mishap were also seized by the police.
