The cop and the lady entered into verbal dual. The situation turned worst when the cop started beating her.
The video of the incident went viral on social media and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic City Jammu Shiv Kumar Sharma has to order suspension of the cop.
“Today, a video has been found viral in which SgCt Suman Kumar, who was deployed with SO (T) Bikram Chowk was seen beating a lady pedestrian”, the SSP told the EXCELSIOR.
“The act on the part of the said official is highly objectionable and amounts to misconduct, indiscipline and dereliction towards his legitimate duty. Such act of traffic police official tarnish the image of Traffic Police”, SSP Shiv Kumar Sharma added.
“In view of the above, SgCt Suman Kumar has been placed under suspension with immediate effect and repatriated to his parent unit i.e JKAP 8th Battalion”, the SSP informed.
When asked whether the lady was caught by the cop while stealing some items, SSP said, “If SgCt Suman Kumar had caught the lady stealing some items, he should have handover the lady to the Police for necessary action. Beating a lady in public is not justified”.
However, a complaint against the lady has also been lodged at Nehru Market Police Post by DTI Sohail Rashid, the SSP informed.
