Traffic disrupted on NH as wall along house collapses

SAMBA , Aug 11: The security wall of a residential house along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway collapsed along with a bathroom, a store room, water tank and some other structures in Samba due to rain since the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Following the collapse of the wall and other structures, one-way traffic on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway was disrupted at around 11 am, the debris was cleared by a JCB machine and the traffic was restored. Due to the collapse of the wall, a pole of a high voltage wire also fell after which the electricity of the entire area was also affected.

The owner of the house, Anil Singh Sambyal said “At around 12:30 am last night there was a sudden sound, then the wall behind the house had collapsed, somehow we took our children and went to the brother’s house and saved our lives because at that time it was raining very heavily,. We were afraid that our house might get hit by rain, if it rained for half an hour more, our house could also collapse”.
He appealed the administration that a security wall should be installed as soon as possible so that the house is not damaged.
Local Sarpanch Lavlu Sambyal, who reached the spot, said that substandard material was used in construction by the National Highway Authority, with the result the wall collapsed.
Tehsildar Samba, Mohit Gupta, who reached on the spot, said no one was injured and the house was also not damaged. Traffic has been disrupted due to debris falling on the Highway, he added.
He said instructions have been issued by the higher authorities to the National Highway Authority to remove the debris as soon as possible and start the work of installing a strong security wall so that the house can be saved from damage.
