Traffic Head Constable knocked to death by vehicle

RAJOURI, June 6:  A  Head Constable  of  Traffic Police was knocked to death by a Tata Mobile vehicle in Nowshera area  on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that incident took place when Head Constable Ashok Kumar Sharma, resident of Dangri in Rajouri,  deployed at  Traffic Police Naka at Dallian near Nowshera,  was giving signal to the vehicles for checking.  As he tried to stop a speeding Tata Mobile vehicle moving towards Jammu, the driver hit the cop with great force  and escaped from the spot along with his vehicle No. JK-21/0176. He was chased by cops and others but near Nowshera,  he stopped the vehicle and escaped.
The police seized the vehicle and rushed the seriously injured Traffic Head Constable to Nowshera hospital. The doctors provided preliminary treatment and then referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu for serious head injuries.  He succumbed to injuries near Chowki Chora between Sunderbani and Akhnoor.  Nowshera police has taken cognizance of the matter.
