Traffic in Jammu City

Sir,
Jammu, an Old city of temples is thickly populated. It is winter capital of the State and links the Valley by air and roads. Tourists visit Jammu enroute to their pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi and Amar Nath in the Valley. In addition to this, the scenic beauty of Jammu and its suburbs also attract tourists in large numbers round the year. We find pressure on roads increasing tremendously. Moreover, the roads in Jammu lack capacity to accommodate huge rush of people and vehicles simultaneously. The roads are narrow for the huge traffic that play on them day and night. We notice regular traffic jams on the roads. It is a sad State of affairs that road accidents are increasing and the situation is alarming one. One traffic police is a responsible force assigned with the important traffic control duty both in  odd and even hours.
The present situation with regard to traffic management needs your serious attention towards the problem. Those defying traffic rules need to be punished. The traffic rules and regulations have to be adhered to us letter and spirit. This problem will compound when winter Secretariat with open here. Most of the lights on the crossings have stopped working and they need to be repaired before Darbar move. The system needs to be streamlined well in advance so that people have no complaint against traffic police. Our State Govt should rise to the occasion and expand and widen roads in Jammu keeping in view all aspects that aggregate the traffic menace in Jammu city. The work on flyovers construction has to be  since the gravity of the situation demands so.
Yours etc…..
