JAMMU, June 9: J&K BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi expressed resentment against the district administration for not showing its serious concern towards the problems being faced by the shopkeepers of Jammu city.
Briefing media persons here, today, Yudhvir Sethi said that Traffic Police was harassing the law abiding citizens on the name of traffic rules and slapping challans on them unnecessarily after charging them of violation of rules. He said the COVID-19 Pandemic has caused mass disruptions to the nation’s economy, its trade, industry and the lives of citizens. Instead of extending support to the traders of Jammu, district administration as well as Traffic Police was unnecessarily harassing the shopkeepers by challaning and lifting vehicles of customers parked outside the shops.
Sethi asserted that people of all sections of the society having been economically hit due to the Corona pandemic and the administration should show sympathy to the traders and shopkeepers of Jammu city. Instead of lifting or challaning the vehicles, district administration along with Police Department should create more parking lots so that the people of Jammu city may not face any inconvenience while going for shopping.
Sethi said that it is unfortunate that in various areas of Jammu city comprising Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Hari Market, Jain Bazzar, Lakhdata Bazaar, Gujjar Nagar and other areas have lack of parking slots due to which the traders of the aforesaid areas are facing huge problems.
“There is no parking slot and the people have to park the vehicles on road side in the aforesaid areas to make some emergency purchases like medicines and police instead of understanding the problem is harassing them by slapping challans which is unfortunate. It is mandatory to maintain the rules but for keeping the rule the administration must create facilities so that traders as well as people of Jammu city may not face any inconvenience,” he added.
Sethi asserted that when the Bus Stand parking area has been ready then why the Government is not opening it. He appealed to the Lt Governor, GC Murmu to give directions to the authorities concerned for identifying or constructing new parking slots in Jammu areas and then give directions for strictly following the rules.
Among others who were present included in the press conference included Kartar Mahajan, president Lakhdatta Bazaar Traders Association, Rajesh Raina president, Hari Market Traders Association, Rajesh Verma, Dhounthly Bazaar Traders Association and Bharat Bhushan vice president, Gummat Bazaar Traders Association.
