Traffic police installs surveillance cameras

JAMMU, Jan 29: For effective implementation of traffic enforcement laws in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts, the Traffic Police has installed surveillance cameras to monitor any kind of violations and send the challans to houses of the owners.
SP Traffic (Rural) Jammu, Dushyant Sharma said the violations of traffic laws will also be sent to the concerned RTO/ARTO for cancellation of driving licenses, registration certificated and other documents etc.
Sharma said the Traffic Police has launched special drive against the offenders including driving without licenses, use of mobile telephones during driving, not wearing crash helmets, triple riding, over speeding and driving without seat belts etc.
He said some of these offences were major cause of accidents and the Traffic Police was trying to keep them under control to avert mishaps.
“Stern action is also being taken against the drunk drivers,” the SP Traffic Rural said, adding during past two months they have challaned 18074 vehicles and realized an amount of Rs 23.34 lakh as fine from the defaulters.
Another special driver has also been launched against display of music systems in the vehicles, Sharma said.
