SRINAGAR, Mar 1: Aimed to imparting skill set of the youth, a skill development training program for implementation of smart metering under RDSS, was inaugurated here today.
The training was organized by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), through Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC), under its CSR initiative.
The program of imparting training was commenced at the allotted training centre for District Srinagar, Youth Empowerment Organization (YEO).
Thirty candidates in two batches shall be imparted this skill development training.
POWERGRID is India’s leading power transmission company which plays a critical role in the nation’s electricity infrastructure by ensuring the reliable and efficient transmission of power across vast distances through its EHVAC/ HVDC transmission network.
On the CSR front, POWERGRID emphasizes sustainable community development and environmental stewardship.
Under this initiative, POWERGRID and PSSC have mutually entered into an agreement wherein POWERGRID will be funding PSSC for the purpose of implementation of ‘Project for Skill Development Training to 6000 Candidates for Implementation of Smart Metering under RDSS of GoI’ in 34 locations across the country.
The project will enable youth to become self-reliant, confident and economically independent through sustainable income and earning opportunities.
POWERGRID will assess the Quarterly/Half Yearly/Annual Reports and Final Comprehensive Completion Report of the program will be submitted within three months of the completion of the project.
The Project will facilitate the overall RPL certification to the experienced workforce in the industry thereby enhancing their opportunities of getting wider employment options and higher income.
Among others who were present during the inauguration function included Dr V K Singh, CEO PSSC, Jasbir Singh, ED-CSR(POWERGRID), A H Khan, Sr GM, POWERGRID (Kashmir) and Syed Shamim, Sr DGM (POWERGRID), who is also the concerned Nodal Officer for District Srinagar.
