Training programme on ‘Juvenile Justice’ culminates at SKPA

UDHAMPUR, Mar 26: A three day training programme on ‘Juvenile Justice’ culminated today at S.K Police Academy (SKPA).
A total of 18 officers from the rank of Sub Inspector to Inspector of J&K Police participated in the training.
Objective of the training was to sensitize the Police Officers regarding various legal provisions of law to protect the rights of children and to ensure proper care of a child during the period when liberty is curtained. The training programme will also familiarize the participants with existing legal provisions of child rights in J&K.
Improved methods of handling the juveniles were also discussed during the training.
A valediction function was organized in the Academy today where Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, Deputy Director (Indoor, Trgs) was chief guest.
In his valedictory address, Gupta laid emphasis to understand the importance of conceptual background of child rights and various provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Eminent speakers including Dr. Pallavi Anand, Asstt. Registrar, University of Jammu, Yasman, chairperson, Child Welfare Committee Udhampur, Adv. Supriya Chouhan, High Court Jammu, Shalini Sharma, Member Juvenile Justice Board Jammu as well as faculty of SKPA delivered lectures to participants and shared their valuable experience.
The course was coordinated by Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, AD (Admn) SKPA, assisted by ASI Ashok Kumar SKPA Udhampur.
