Training programme on “Marketing Intelligence in Agricultural Marketing” begins at SKUAST -J

JAMMU, Dec 19: Three-day training programme on “Role of Marketing Intelligence in Agricultural Marketing” commenced today at, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu.
The training programme is sponsored by CCS, NIAM, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Govt of India and is being organized by Directorate of Extension and Directorate of Education in collaboration with Division of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management. The training programme, which is mainly designed for ATMA officials will create a sound awareness and knowledge towards market intelligence.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr K S Risam, Director Extension and Course Director of the training programme, briefed about the time to time importance of market information and intelligence to enable farmers and traders to make decisions about what to grow, how much to grow, when and where to sell the agricultural produce and products.
Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education of SKUAST-Jammu, who is also Course Director, briefed about the market information system mechanisms and tools, which can be used to enable producers to undertake market-driven production planning; facilitate integration of farm production with domestic and global markets and attract massive investments needed for building post-harvest infrastructure.
A total number of 25 delegates are participating in the training programme. The major objective of the programme is to build capacity of officers of ATMA to understand management of agriculture marketing so as to enable them to facilitate market linkages.
Dr Anil Bhat, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the training programme, highlighted the main themes to be covered during the three days training programme. Dr Deepak Kher, Director Plannning, Rajesh Talwar, Registrar & Comptroller, Dr M S Bhadwal, Controller Examination and Head of the divisions were also present during the function. The inaugural session of Training programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Coordinator, Dr Bharat Bhushan.
