Training programmes held in Marh for empowerment of adolescent girls

JAMMU, Mar 25: For Empowering adolescent girls of 11-18 years of age by improving their nutritional and health status, up-gradation of home skills, life skills and vocational skills, various training programmes and camps were held in Marh Project under SABLA scheme during October 2012 to March 2013.
As per a official handout the latest awareness camp for empowerment of women for asserting /revering the trend of declining child sex ratio (CSR) has been held on March 8 at Shama Chak Anganwadi Centre, in block Marh in which other guest faculties Dr Sham Gopal Gupta, Divisional Nutrition Officer, Directorate of Health Services Jammu was the chief guest who stressed upon the value of girl child and the illegality sex determination of foetus and female foeticide. Other dignitaries including Ashok Brarro Ex Demonstration Officer, CFNEU Government of India and Jagdish Parshad, Demonstration Officer, Food and Nutrition Board GOI also spoke about the birth rate of boys and girls over the last few years and the impact of having a large number of men than women.
One to one discussion was held by the Block Medical Officer, Marh Mrs Neetu Singh, Child Development Project Officer, Marh Mrs Masooda Akhtar and other faculty members of other departments with the adolescent girls.
Participants expressed their full cooperation for making the scheme run by the Department successful in Marh block.
