JAMMU, Mar 13: Trans genders from all over India today took out a jhanki here and paid tributes to their fore-fathers.
Hundreds of trans-genders from various States of India assembled at Bhagwati Nagar and took out a jhanki.
The jhanki started from Bhagwati Nagar and passed through Jewel Chowk, Old City areas and reached Raghunath temple.
During the jhanki, the trans-genders were seen dancing on the tunes of dhol and songs. A jhanki depicting bride and groom was eye catcher.
At Raghunath Temple, trans-genders paid obeisance and offered prayers for peace and prosperity in the State and the country in general. They also offered clothes to the priests of the temple as a token of respect.
While speaking, Haji Miyan Saira said that the main aim of the jhanki was to pay tributes to ancestors of trans-genders. In this jhanki, around 1400 trans-genders from various states took part, Saira added.
“We are also part of this society and constitution rights should be granted to us at par with other people”, Haji Miyan Saira stated.
