Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govt doubles allocation to Health, Education sectors’ DE March 20.
It is true that the Government is very much concerned about improvement in education and health sectors, that is why it has doubled allocation. However, it is also true that mere increase in allocation is not going to bring required transformation in these sectors. Judicious use of fund is quite necessary to bring about any change. Sarva Shiksha Abhyaan in the State has come under sharp criticism from various quarters, as it did not implement the scheme in letter and spirit. There were reports that some funds allocated for the scheme remained unutilised.
There is urgent need to bring transparency and accountability in the system. There should be periodic review of the schemes that are to be implemented whether in education or health sector. These sectors play an important role in the lives of people and there should be no compromise with them.
Yours etc….
