REASI, Jan 31: Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, flagged off a grand rally in Katra promoting road safety awareness today.
The rally included around 500 students from different schools, bikers, auto and taxi drivers, and other stakeholders. It commenced from Asia Chowk to Fountain Chowk in the presence of several dignitaries. The Rally was attended by SSP National Highway (NH) Rohit Basotra, SSP Reasi Paramveer Singh and other officials of police and civil administration.
While addressing the gathering, the Transport Commissioner encouraged students to spread the message of road safety among their families and society. He emphasized the importance of following traffic rules and driving responsibly.
Following the Rally, a medical camp was organized, where the Transport Commissioner, as the chief guest, stressed the need for regular medical check-ups for drivers to ensure fitness and safe driving practices. Participants were made aware of the significance of health check-ups and their role in preventing road accidents.
On the occasion, RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, administered the Road Safety oath to drivers and other participants of the Rally while the Transport Commissioner reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, carrying valid documents, and ensuring safe driving practices for a safer road environment.
The Event successfully reinforced the significance of road safety and the collective responsibility of society in preventing accidents.
