Transporters, operators protest against RTO office

JAMMU, July 5: Transporters and private transport/ bus operators today held strong protest against the Regional Transport Authorities Jammu for suspending Route Permits/ Registration Certificates of many buses and other private transport vehicles.
The members of the private Bus Unions along with transporters and driver and conductors stopped their vehicles in the middle of B C Road and started protest demonstration against the Regional Transport authorities. They alleged that Transport authorities, on the behest of top JKUT administration have launched ugly campaign to harass transport operators in the J&K. They have given targets to the Transport/ Traffic police officers of imposing challans.
With this harassment of Transport operators has begun. After 4-5 challans they are black listing the vehicles and then suspending their route permit and RC as well. Many buses have been black listed and their route permits have been suspended that too during this peak season of shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. They have created mess at Shri Amarnath Ji base camp where only selective vehicles are allowed to enter. A mafia is operating there under the nose of Administration.
They said on one vehicle/ bus 4-5 familes are dependent. This administration is snatching meals from these affected families. They warned to stop the harassment otherwise, the transporters will go on strike.
