Travelers exempted from COVID test, one dies in Kathua

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Oct 25: The State Executive Committee (SEC) today exempted fully vaccinated persons and those having RT-PCR negative report of not later than 72 hours from COVID test on arrival by air, road and rail in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
An order to this effect was issued by Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, who is also the SEC Chairperson.
“The travelers carrying valid and verifiable Final Certificate Report of COVID-19 vaccination or RT-PCR COVID-19 negative report taken within 72 hours of arrival time will be exempted from COVID testing on their arrival by air/rail/road to Jammu and Kashmir,” the SEC order said.
Meanwhile, one person died of COVID-19 and nine others tested positive for the virus in the Jammu region while 51 new cases were reported in Kashmir division.
An 81-year-old man hailing from Ward No. 19 in Kathua died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the GMC Jammu today taking Corona toll in the Jammu region to 2176 and that of Kathua district to 152.
Among nine cases, three each were reported from Jammu and Doda districts and one each from Udhampur, Rajouri and Reasi districts.
Twenty three persons recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases in the Jammu region to 129.
Five persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
Ladakh now has 37 active positive cases—36 in Leh and one in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 51 fresh positive cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 31 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 4 from Budgam, 4 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag and 1 from Ganderbal.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 207,421 including 204,461 recoveries and 2,254.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 835 including 706 from Kashmir division.
With 90 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 326,433 which is 98.41 percent of the total cases.
