JAMMU, Jan 12: Former minister and senior Congress leader Mula Ram today said that treachery and deceit of BJP leadership let down the people of Jammu on all the fronts.
Addressing one day convention of the party at Purkhoo, in Raipur-Domana constituency today, Mula Ram said that previous PDP-BJP Coalition Government failed in providing basic amenities like water, power and ration to the common person of the State. He also said that priority of BJP was not to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs wanted to accomplish their selfish designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means.
Terming the promises made by PDP-BJP Government as “mere bluffs”, he said that voters were fed up with the “sheer opportunism” of these two parties. Both the parties took the extreme positions on most of the emotional issues and exploited their respective constituencies to the hilt, with a false and deceptive promise to keep each other out of power, if voted in strength.
Appealing people from different walks of life particularly youth to become part of the party, Mula Ram said Congress offers a platform for all well meaning peoples to encourage them and play their role in party’s vision of political resolution and good governance. He said Congress by way of its pro-people policies is the only viable alternative for the people of the State. He said BJP failed to do anything good for the people of state except exploiting them for vested political interests.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla said that atmosphere of mistrust has been created by BJP in the country. They have also proved worst failure in J&K state. “We decry the politics of hate and divide”, he said while cautioning the people against divisive politics being played by BJP-PDP which has already alienated Kashmir from the mainstream.
Bhalla claimed that BJP  has only added to the woes of common man. He said BJP acted as dummy coalition partner in the Government as discrimination with Jammu province was at its peak. He blamed both PDP and BJP for exploiting people by playing with their emotions on good governance drama staged by them.
Former ministers RS Chib, Suman Bhagat, PCC chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma, District president Rural Hari Singh Chib, Th Balwan Singh,  Manmohan Singh, Rajnish  Sharma, Ch Gharu Ram, Gurdarshan Singh, PYC chief Uday Bhanu Singh Chib,  Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC),  MK Bhardwaj, Rajesh Singh, Raj Dev Singh Jamwal and Hera Lal Pandita, also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, expressing deep shock over the martyrdom of three Army personnel including a Major in a BAT strike in  Lam area of Nowshera and Sunderbani Sector, Congress has strongly condemned the highly provocative actions of Pakistan.   In a statement PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that Pakistan has been indulging in highly provocative actions repeatedly on the LOC and borders which is a matter of grave concern as our jawans are getting martyred in large numbers. Pakistan has resorted to BAT actions and sniper strikes repeatedly during recent years, which is very serious.
