Treasurer arrested for committing fraud

SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Police have arrested the treasurer of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School Baramulla for ‘fraudulently’ withdrawing Rs 42 lakh from CP Fund of the employees of the school. The charge-sheet was filed against the accused in the Court of Law.
A police spokesman said that on December 12, Principal St. Joseph Higher Secondary School Baramulla lodged a complaint alleging therein that while scrutinizing the books of accounts pertaining to C.P Fund of staff members of institute huge discrepancies were observed.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that there has been a huge withdrawal and transfer of the money from the individual CP Fund accounts of a number of school employees without their consent and knowledge. A case FIR No: 139/2012 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 406 RPC was registered and investigation was initiated,” said the police spokesman.
The spokesman said that a special investigation team constituted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Baramulla seized documents/withdrawal forms, pay-in-slips of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Baramulla. During the investigation, it came to light that the CP Fund were withdrawn by the treasurer Javid Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Delina who maintained the accounts pertaining to CP Fund and was also the treasurer of the CP Funds, by forging the signatures of the Principal and staff members.
A charge-sheet was filed today against the culprit in the Court of Law.
