JAMMU, Jan 10: BJP State general secretary, Dr Narinder Singh has strongly pleaded for extending same facilities and benefits to the people living on International Border (IB) in the State which have been given to the people living on Line of Control.
In a statement issued here, today, Dr Singh turned the attention of the Government towards the plight of people living on IB in the Jammu region and said that they face same kind of threat from across the border which the people living on LoC face.
He said due to the unprovoked shelling from across the border denizens are exposed to grave risk and the Government should take appropriate steps to decrease their sufferings.
He demanded that on the pattern of LoC people, the residents along IB be also given reservations in jobs and professional colleges, besides other facilities given to the people of LoC be extended to them also.
Dr Singh has made an appeal to Chief Minister of the State in this regard and urged her to look into this issue on humanitarian basis as border people have suffered a heavy loss due to shelling from across.
