RAMBAN, Dec 17: A truck driver was killed here today after a tree fell on his moving truck and the incident left the helper injured in Nachlana, Sherbibi area of Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Police sources said that the ill fated truck was bearing registration number JK03G -1677.
On getting information about the incident, cops and local volunteers rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the driver from the damaged cabin of the truck and shifted it to SDH Banihal. He was identified as Muzzamil Gul, 38, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh, resident of Hillar, Shahbad in Anantnag.
The injured was identified as Owais Ahmed, resident of Wandawalgam, Anantnag and he was admitted at Sub District Hospital Banihal for treatment.
Sources informed that the tree on a hillock along the National Highway caught fire in a stem and got uprooted before landing on the moving truck.
Police and Forest officers were tight-lipped over the incident.
