JAMMU, Oct 26: Tree Talk, the popular eco awareness programme was held at Government Degree College, Thannamandi.
The programme was started by founder of the greenery campaign OP Sharma Vidyarthi with his informative lecture and interactive session in the college campus.
Large number of the students besides the teaching fraternity of the college attended the programme and enthusiastically discussed the eco concerns during the session.
It was followed by a field tour within the college campus wherein various aspects of local plant species present were talked about and the local uses and medicinal values were discussed and demonstrated.
Vidyarthi emphasized the need to cultivate the local plant species and to revive the plant based local knowledge of treating various ailments.
Dr AR Qadri, HoD Urdu, Prof Saleem Ayaz Rather, HoD Zoology, Prof Junaid Jazib, HoD Environmental Sciences, Prof Sankait Gupta, HoD Computer Applications, Prof Rubeena Kosser of Zoology and Prof Manzoor Sofi of Botany Departments were present on the occasion.
