Trehgam Pandits seek immediate intervention of CM, DyCM

JAMMU, June 7:  Kashmiri Pandits of village, Trehgam, Kupwara in Valley presently leading an exiled life here have questioned the rationale of Government’s claims of rehabilitating the displaced Pandits in Valley and termed it totally bogus.
Talking to reporters here, today president of Biradri, Kumar Ji Raina its secretary, Verender Pandita, orgniser, Rattan Lal Haksar, treasurer, Veer Ji Raina and coordinators Rattan Lal Raina and Satish Raina said that on the one hand the Government is claiming rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley and on the other hand various Government agencies have started dismantling of Hindu religious places in Kashmir.
They said that the temples and other religious shrines are the pillars of community and  monuments of its faith. If they don’t remain safe how can Government guarantee the safety of minorities in Valley on their return, they asked?.
Expressing strong resentment over the dismantling of the Dharamshalla by Government agency in the village, they said that instead of protecting the same the authorities are themselves hell bent to eliminate the remaining signs of Hindus faith in Valley.
The KP Biradri members of the village have appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief  Minister, Kavinder Gupta and Minister of Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Javed Mustafa Mir seeking their immediate intervention in the matter and action against the erring officers to restore the faith of the community in the Government.
They said that earlier in 2001-2002 Government encroached a part of Mandir land for construction of water tank by PHE Department without consulting the Pandits of the village. They cut walnut and willow trees and put them to auction but even that money was not paid to the community.
“Though we met the different officers including Relief Commissioner, Migrants, DC Kupwara in this regard but to no avail”, they added.
They said on January 25 this year, the president of the organization, Kumar Ji Raina approached the Public Information Officer, Kupwara to seek information but to our surprise no information was given to him.
They said what has shocked the community more that 15days back two Dharamshallas and three other structures which were being used by us for performance annual religious functions were dismantled by the Government using JCB in the name of development without consulting the KPs of Trehgam.
