RAMBAN, Feb 10: The first Electric Train trial run from Banihal to Khari to Sangaldan section on Banihal-Katra section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project in Ramban was successfully conducted on around 40 km of track and tunnels between Banihal and Sangaldan Railway Stations.
Engineers of Konkan and Ircon International Limited engaged by Northern Railway for the USBRL Project informed that the 25 KV, Railway Electrification work between Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan Stations was completed and electric engine trial run was successfully conducted by the engineers of Northern Railway, Firozpur Division.
Earlier in December and January, high-speed train trial runs were conducted on the newly laid rail lines between Banihal-Khari-Sumber Stations.
Railway Officers in Banihal said the work on Sumbar and Sangaldan rail line was completed and the first trial run of the electric engine was successfully conducted late Friday.
The Railway officers also said that electric engine train trial runs was conducted in the presence of senior officers and engineers of Northern Railway and construction companies Konkan and IRCON officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that work on Banihal-Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan Railway Stations was already completed and these stations are ready for operation.
Sources in Northern Railways said the work on Banihal to Sangaldan section of the rail line is almost complete and the Banihal to Sangaldan section of USBRL project is ready for operation.
