Tribal Hostels get Reading Room Cum Library

JAMMU, Nov 18: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya today inaugurated one each Reading Room cum Library at Gujjar & Bakarwal Boys and Gujjar & Bakarwal Girls Hostels both situated at the Residency Road.
Speaking on the occasions, the DC congratulated the students for the newly inaugurated facilities and urged them to make the best use of the books and other resources available in the twin libraries. He also educated the children about the significance of the nation-wide Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations and the contribution of the tribal communities in the freedom struggle and nation building.
He acknowledged the lifestyle and challenges faced by tribal populations and also encouraged the students to achieve personal milestones in their life. He appreciated the initiatives being taken by the Tribal Affairs Department and also assured full support from the office of Deputy Commissioner for future projects.
The DC also felicitated the academic toppers, sports achievers and other extraordinary students of these hostels.
The officers also shed light on the life and sacrifice of freedom fighter Birsa Munda who was also a tribal. They said that Birsa Munda was a visionary leader who fought against British colonialism and the exploitation of the tribal people.
