KARGIL, Sept 3: The 2-day J&K State Level Tribal Writers’ Conference by J&K Cultural Academy and Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, was inaugurated here today by Chairman of the State Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali.
While underlining the importance of folk literature and traditions to sustain and nourish the true identity of the State, Haji Anayat said that the State Government is fully committed towards the preservation and promotion of all the dialects, languages and literatures in the State. He said that efforts for the inclusion of Purgi language in the 6th Schedule of the State Constitution are underway for which he is in continuous touch with the Secretary J&K Cultural Academy.
Earlier, Secretary Sahitya Akademi Dr K Srinivas Rao, announced that a national level Writers’ Meet shall be held in Kargil on 26th and 27th of September, 2016 wherein writers, poets and artists from the North Eastern States, other States as well from Kargil area shall be given due representation.
In his introductory address, Secretary J&K Cultural Academy, Dr Aziz Hajini, said that the Academy is going to organize the J&K State Literary Conference at New Delhi this year wherein writers and poets representing all the regional languages of the State shall participate.
Earlier, a colorful cultural programme representing the Purgi, Dardi/Shina, Balti, and Dardi folk music and dances was also presented.
Convenor, Kashmiri Adbi Board Sahitya Akadmi, Professor Muhammad Zaman Azurdah, presented the key note address while as eminent Purgi and Balti scholar and poet Kacho, Asfandyar Khan (IAS Retired) also spoke on the occasion.
Among others, who were present on the occasion, included Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Hassan Khan, ADDC Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, ACR Kargil Kacho Turab Shah, former CEC and Councilor Yurbaltak, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, district officers, writers, poets, students and large number of general public.
The two days conference, spread over 4 sessions, is being attended by around 50 writers, poets, scholars and observers, representing the various tribal languages of Jammu and Kashmir State. In the post lunch session held today, Dr Javed Rahi presented his paper on the topic ‘The Tribal Languages and Literatures of Jammu and Kashmir’ while as Dr Kunchok Rigzin, Muhammad Sadiq Hardassi and Abdul Majeed Hasrat delivered their papers on the development of Ladakhi, Baltic and Gojri languages respectively.
The proceedings were conducted by curator Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum, Ajaz Hussain Munshi while as Deputy Secretary Culture Kargil, Nazir Hussain presented the vote of thanks.
