The has reference to the article ‘Martydom of Major Somnath Sharma’ DE Nov 3.
The author has rightly suggested that the Jammu Airport should be named after Major Somnath Sharma who laid down his life for the nation. Naming the airport will be a fitting tribute to the martyr.
The country should be proud of its martyrs, and the countrymen should remember them not only on their birth or death anniversaries but by living their ideals in day to day life. This will inculcate the virtues of honesty, courage and sacrifice in our children. Martyrs are our role models and it is necessary that we name public or private buildings, or any land mark of great importance after them, so that they do not fade from our memory.
