BILLAWAR, Aug 5: Floral tribute were paid to Indian Army braveheart Shaheed Mohinder Singh on his 25th martyrdom day.
In this regard a function was organised here today.
On the occasion, Col Mahan Singh (Retd.), DDC Chairman Kathua paid floral tribute to Shaheed Mohinder Singh.
The ceremony witnessed emotional scenes where the mother, Veer Nari, and other near and dear ones of the Amar Shaheed soldier were present.
Col Mahan presented shawls and the Indian Tricolour to the Veer Naris and the mother of the Shaheed, assuring them of all possible help and care from society and the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan applauded the achievements and courage of the Indian Army during the Kargil War, which was fought under the toughest conditions in the most difficult terrain where the enemy had sneaked into our territory and captured strategic heights.
He asserted that the bravest are those who overcome fear and triumph over it.
“The youth of hilly area of Kathua have always been keen to join the Indian Army and have always played a key role in various battles, keeping their nationalism feelings ahead and the Indian flag always flying high,” he added.
Shaheed Mohinder Singh laid down his life during the Kargil War, wherein he was severely wounded during an operation and later succumbed to his injuries.
Among others who paid their tributes included Bikram Singh, DDC Member Billawar, Bharat Singh, Jagdev Singh, Capt Raj Singh and others.
A community meal (Langar) was also organized by the family on the occasion.
