JAMMU, Sept 27: Different organizations here today organized functions to pay tribute to Martyr Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary.
Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation and Jewel Bazar Traders Association organized a function at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk to pay tribute to legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his 116th birth anniversary.
A free Ayurvedic Medical camp was organized by Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu on this occasion in which about 900 persons were benefitted.
Choudhary Lal Singh, former Minister, MP and founder of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP) was the chief guest on this occasion and while speaking on the occasion he said that Bhagat Singh laid his life for the independence of the our nation.
“The British get Bhagat Singh martyred but our governments even after the independence failed to compel the British government to tender an apology for their atrocities,” he maintained and asked Jammu people to wake up and fight for their rights now otherwise the sacrifices rendered by the martyrs will go in vain.
K.D Singh Jamwal, senior vice president DSSP, Vijay Sharma, Dr. Taran Singh, Advocate Kamal Gupta, general secretary Jewel Bazaar Traders Association and others also spoke on the occasion.
Martyr Bhagat Singh was remembered on his birth anniversary by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu. AAP leaders, Kuldeep Kumar Rao and O.R Bhall said that Bhagat Singh was a socialist revolutionary who fought for independence of the country.
“He was a revolutionary leader in the freedom struggle of India and was hanged by the British when he was just 23 years of age for his struggle to liberate the motherland from occupation of British,” AAP leaders said appealing to the people of the country irrespective of caste, creed and colour to remember the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation.
National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University Unit organized a programme on the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh who laid his life for the country. On this occasion, NSF activists raised slogans like ‘Bhagat Singh Zindabad’ and paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and garlanded his portrait.
Dr. Vikas Sharma, NC leader was chief guest while Dr. Sukhdev Singh, State president NSF presided over the function. Vikshay Vashist, State Secretary NSF was guest of honour.
Dr. Vikas Sharma said that true tribute to Bhagat Singh would be to launch struggle for restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Sukhdev Singh, Roshan Sharma, University president and others also spoke on the occasion.
