Tribute paid to noted Punjabi poet Hardial Singh

JAMMU, Mar 10: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Manoranjan Kala Kendra (MKK) organized a Punjabi Mushaira to pay tribute to Hardial Singh Rehbar here today.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary, JKAACL was chief guest on this occasion whereas Ajit Singh Mastana, renowned Punjabi Ghazal writer of Kashmir presided over the function.
Popinder Singh Paras, Senior Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL and T.S Premee, Secretary, MKK were present on the presidium.
The programme started with the welcome address by Popinder Singh on behalf of MKK and Bharat Singh Secretary, JKAACL.
In his presidential address Ajit Singh Mastana talked about contribution of Hardial Singh Rehbar to Punjabi literary world.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that Rehbar had been a poet and initiator to carry forward the literary activities upto the root levels among the people.
Poets who presented their poems were Ajit Singh Mastana, Balkar Singh, Joginder Singh Shan, Rattan Singh Kanwal, Manjit Singh Kamra, Dr. Kusam, Jang Singh Verman, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Tejinder Singh Premi and others.
Noted Punjabi poet Hardial Singh ‘Rehbar’ was born in the family of Sukh Dei and Sohan Singh at Choona Mandi, Lahore on December 25, 1931 and he left for heavenly abode on September 13, 2023.
He inherited qualities of his elder brother Harnam Das ‘Sehrai’ (a well known poet and a historian) in the field of literature.
Rehbar had been awarded by many organizations like Punjabi Vikas Manch, Pathankot; Dharam Parchar Committee, Amritsar; Cultural Wing, Information Department, Jammu; Punjabi Sahit Sangam, Jammu etc.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by T.S Premee, Secretary MKK who also extended the vote of thanks.
