BASOHLI, Sept 3: Heartfelt tribute were paid to Shaheed Mast Ram, a valiant soldier who laid down his life in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, at his memorial in Mandla Village near Basohli, here today.
In this regard a function was organized by Col Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman of Kathua, which was attended by dignitaries, local leaders, and residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan Singh praised the unparalleled bravery and sacrifice of Shaheed Mast Ram.
“It is because of the courage and selflessness of brave soldiers like Shaheed Mast Ram that we enjoy peace and security today. His heroic deeds will continue to inspire generations,” he said and added that the nation is forever indebted to the martyrs who gave their lives for its freedom and dignity.
The event also saw the participation of Vidya Devi, the Veer Nari (war widow), and the family of Amar Shaheed Mast Ram, who were honored for their immeasurable sacrifice.
The programme concluded with a community langar organized to serve the villagers and attendees, fostering a spirit of unity and remembrance.
Among others who graced the event included Th. Darshan Singh, BJP candidate for the Basohli Assembly Constituency, Harjinder Singh Thekedar, MLA from Amritsar South, Capt. Harnam Singh, Capt. Yubkaran Singh, Capt. Nek Ram and DDC Member Tajinder Goldy.
