JAMMU, Aug 10: The J&K chapter of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademy (BDSA) today paid tributes to late Babu Parmanand on his 85th birthday, at its Headquarter in Roopnagar area of Jammu.
All the office bearers of the Akademy besides, some prominent people of area gathered there and paid floral tributes to son of the soil, who rose from a mud house of village Sarore to Rajbhawan of Chandigarh by dint of his hard work, intelligence, honesty and affection with masses.
The function was presided over by Sudesh Kumari, president, BDSA, J&K chapter, who also threw light on the life of Babu Parmanand. She informed that besides, Governor of Haryana, the late leader also served as Speaker and Finance Minister of J&K.
Prominent among others who paid tributes to Babu Parmanand include SS Sarangal, Primary District and Session Judge (retd), RK Kaaalsotra, president, Confederation of SC/ST/OBC, Prof Girdhari Lal Thappa, president, J&K SC/ST Retired Employees Forum and Vijay Bhagat, general secretary, BDSA, J&K chapter.
