Tributes paid to Major Som Nath on birth anniversary

JAMMU, Jan 31: Brahman Sabha Jammu and Kashmir today celebrated birth anniversary of J&K’s first Param Vir Chakra awardee and martyr Major Som Nath Sharma, who had made supreme sacrifice while defending Kashmir from invading Pakistani tribals and Army in 1948.
In this connection, a function was organized at Raipur Domana where rich tributes were paid to the martyr.
Senior BJP leader and the party candidate for Rajya Sabha, Chander Mohan Sharma, who was chief guest on the occasion, threw light on life of Major Som Nath and supreme sacrifice made by him in war with Pakistan.
The Brahman Sabha president Shakti Dutt Sharma appealed the Governor N N Vohra to pay homage to the great personality by rechristening Jammu airport before the name of Major Som Nath.
Prominent and locals, including Mahant Rohit Shastri, Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Shastri, Vijay Shastri, Sumit Sharma and other people attended the function.
