KISHTWAR, May 10: On the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas, floral tributes were paid to the martyrs of Kishtwar district, who sacrificed their lives during militancy.
An impressive programme was organized in the premises of Gouri Shanker Temple at Sarkoot under the chairmanship of Swami Ram Saran Dass Shastri wherein renowned RSS worker and scholar from Himachal Pradesh Vivek Kumar was the main speaker.
President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar Hans Raj Bhutyal and senior leader Rajinder Singh also addressed the gathering.
The function was attended by family members of martyrs, citizens and students from various institutions in large number.
On May 10, 1993, senior leader of Hindu Raksha Samiti Satish Kumar Bhandari was assassinated by terrorists in Kishtwar and since then every year on May 10. Shaheedi Diwas is organized to remember those souls who sacrificed their lives during militancy.
A cultural programme was also presented by the students, which were highly applauded by the audience with thundering applauses.
