POONCH, Sept 23: Volunteers of various social and political organizations led by Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Jehangir Hussain Mir, organized a ‘shradhanjali samaroh’ to pay homage to the Martyr Rajinder Kumar, who sacrificed his life while performing duty in the recent fidayeen attack.
The volunteers, pays floral tributes to Martyr Rajinder Sharma here at Ragunath Temple amid slogans in favour of the Martyr and security forces personnel.
JS Johar, SSP Poonch, Birgade Commander, Additional SP, DSP Head Quarter and various Army also paid homage to the brave soldier, who sacrificed his life while saving many others life.
Holding candles in hands, volunteers stood along both sides of the road near Bharat Nagar Chowk here last night to pay homage to the sacrifices of brave soldiers, who without caring for their own lives, keep vigil on the borders of the country.
Jehangir Hussain Mir, while paying tributes to the martyr, said the soldiers, facing various kinds of adversities, safeguarded the country’s frontiers and sacrificed their lives for the safety and security of the countrymen and the same did Martyr Rajinder Sharma. He assured all possible help to the family of the Martyr.
Satish Sasan, president, SD Sabha, Poonch said the Pakistan-sponsored terrorism had crossed all limits and now it was the right time to react and give a befitting reply, so that they did not disturb peace and tranquility of the border state of Jammu and Kashmir in future.
He demanded the authorities to change the name of the road leading to Bharat Nagar Chowk as Rajinder Sharma Road and to establish his statue on the Chowk. The others who spoke on the occasion include Harcharan Singh Khalsa, Rajinder Singh, JS Johar, Manjeet Sharma and Amar Singh Jos.
