Tributes paid to Dr B R Ambedkar

JAMMU, Apr 14: In connection with the 123rd birth anniversary of `Bharat Ratna’ Dr B R Ambedkar, various organizations paid their rich tributes and recalled valuable services of Baba Sahib in various functions organized across the State today.
State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) organized a function in this connection at the party headquarters at Satwari here today. The party organized similar functions at all the district headquarters in the region. While the function here was organized under the leadership of district president, Jammu Tilak Raj Bhagat, State unit president of the Tulsi Dass Langeh was the chief guest and Rattan Kumar Bhagat the guest of honour. A large number of party leaders and workers participated.
While speaking on the occasion Mr Langeh threw light on the life history of Dr Ambedkar and termed him as great reformer who strived for the protection of rights of the poor and down trodden members of the society. He described Baba Sahib as architect of Constitution of India and said that he was the Indian leader who was able to convince the Britishers during round table conference at London for introducing democratic system in free India. Several other leaders of the party present on the occasion paid their floral tributes to the great leader.
At Samba, the function in this connection was held under the leadership of Ex-MLA Som Nath. State vice president of the party (BSP), Rattan Lal Chargotra was the chief guest. Portrait of Dr Ambedkar was garlanded profusely by the party leaders who also highlighted the achievements of the great leader.
Member Parliament (Cong) Madan Lal Sharma today said that peace and harmony is must for the over all development of J&K . He was speaking at function organized in connection with Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary at Ghou Adda in district Jammu today. He termed Dr Ambedkar as great visionary who has not only promoted equity but also gave positive direction for the generations to come. Mr Sharma said that without peace and harmony development of all the regions was not possible.
The MP further said that constituencies like Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch need special package as most of the people are residing near the LoC and International border. Most of them are poor and needy. He also demanded special recruitment for border belt and vocational training for young boys and girls of these districts. Vice Chairman of OBC Board, Kuldeep Verma and senior leader Manjit Singh also spoke on the occasion.
Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar Welfare Society, Rajouri organized a programme in connection with birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar at Town Hall, Nowshera today. PCC spokesperson and MLC, Ravinder Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. S P Langeh president of the Society presided over. Mohan Sanehi and Satish Syal, members, also spoke on the occasion. Society general secretary Master Som Raj demanded political reservation for the SC/ST community.
Ravinder Sharma in his address highlighted the role of Dr Ambdekar in the freedom movement and also in preparing Indian constitution. He described Dr Ambedkar as great visionary and reformer who worked for the upliftment of poor and down trodden members of the society. He assured the gathering to take up the issues raised during function with the Chief Minister and PCC chief Prof Saifuddin Soz.
BJP also organized a function in this connection at the party office Kachi Chawani here today. State president of the party Jugal Kishore was the chief guest. The function was organized under the leadership of Jammu district. President of the party Rajesh Gupta and MLA from Jammu East Ashok Khajuria, former State BJP president Shamsher Singh Manhas and several other leaders including those from SC community were present on the occasion.
Jugal Kishore and Ashok Khajuria highlighted the achievements of Dr Ambedkar and paid their rich tributes. On this occasion, about a dozen leaders of the SC community were also felicitated.
In Reasi town, a function was organized to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar under the leadership of former minister and NC leader Jagjivan Lal at Dr Ambdekar Hall here. Minister incharge Animal, Sheep Husbandry Nazir Ahmed Gurezi was the chief guest. The speakers threw light on the life and works of Dr Ambedkar and described him a great leader. District unit BJP, Reasi also organized another function under the leadership of district president Ajay Nanda and paid tributes to Baba Sahib.
PDP also organized a function in this connection at its Gandhi Nagar office here under the leadership of State secretary Ashok Jogi. Senior party leaders Rangil Singh, Tarlok Singh Bajwa, Shanti Devi, Hussain Ali, R K Bali, Th Suram Singh and C L Manyal spoke on the occasion and paid their rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar. They described Dr Ambedkar as architect of Indian constitution and recalled his unparallel services for the nation.
All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organization also paid tributes to Baba Sahib in function organized at Kathua in collaboration with all social and religious bodies of the area at Guru Ravi Dass temple. DC Kathua, Jitender Kumar Singh was the chief guest. He spoke on the life and works of Dr Ambedkar. On this occasion some children were also honoured. L N Dogra, Dr C R Munder, Bansi Lal, Bishan Dass and Sushil Kumar also spoke.
Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association also organized a special meet in this connection under the chairmanship of R L Kaith. The employees paid their rich tributes to Baba Sahib and recalled his services for the community and the country.
All J&K Shri Sadguru Kabir Sabha also celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar in a function organized at Kabir Temple, Janipur here today. Senior retired bureaucrats from the community F C Bhagat, G R Bhagat and J L Bhagat were also present. Members of the committee also attended the programme and paid tributes to the great leader. They lauded the services of Dr Ambedkar for the community.
Guru Ravi Dass Sabha also organized a function at Jammu under the leadership of Vijay Lochan at Guru Ravi Dass Temple, Krishna Nagar here today. Several senior members of the Sabha including C L Banal, Sham Sunder Basson, Parshotam Thapa, Mohan Lal, Surjeet Singh Heer, Sham Lal Basson, Sunil Dutt, Simar Dass, Satpal and others paid their tributes to Baba Sahib Ambedkar.
Another function was organized by Sabha at Vijaypur and paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar. Swami Gurdeep Giri ji Maharaj of Pathankote delivered the sermons on the occasion and asked the people to follow the footsteps of Dr Ambedkar. He asked the community members to impart good education to their children.
Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha in a function organized under the leadership of Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal alleged that SCs’ are still deprived of the benefits as provided in the constitution. Mr Rehman said certain provisions of the Constitution are yet to be implemented. He stressed for providing all the benefits to the members of SC/ST/OBC community.
Bhartiya Bahujan Party also organized function New Nehru Market, Jammu under the leadership of Kanchan Sarma, state president. Other senior leaders S L Bhagat and Tara Chand were also present. Tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Dr Ambedkar Young Blood Welfare Society Ranjit Pora Gole Gujral, Congress Seva Dal Jammu unit led by Vipin Nischal, Nirvana Academy-Cultural Club, Jio Aur Jine Do-NGO, Youth Congress Vijaypur unit in Samba led by Vinod Kumar and PDP youth wing led by Sunny Sangral also paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar in different functions today.
Som Raj Taroch, former president of Mahasha Sadar Sabha paid rich tributes to Ambedkar in a function held here today on his jayanti.
