Tributes paid to Ganai on his 23rd death anniversary

POONCH, July 28: Glowing tributes were today paid to former minister and popular leader of Poonch area, Late Ghulam Ahmed Ganai,  on his 23rd death anniversary here today.
The commemorative function was organized at Dak Bungalow,  Poonch in which a large number of people from all walks of life participated and  highlighted the legacy of sacrifices and statesmanship while pledging to fulfill his mission.
The function commenced with `Quran Khawani’ and `Fateh Khawani’,  followed with floral tributes to Late Ganai.
While recalling the contribution of late Ganai, the speakers highlighted that the role of our Late Ganai did not remain confided to a particular religion or a particular region and said that he fought for the just cause of people of the State and left an indelible mark of sacrifice and selfless service. Confiding Late Ganai, to a particular region or religion, will be ignoring the historical fact that he was a legendary leader of his times.
Dr Shehnaz Ganai MLC, while speaking on the occasion highlighted that throughout life late Ganai Sahib struggled and sacrificed his life for the dignity of people. He fought for the political rights and dignity of his people till his last breath. He was instrumental in instilling the sense of hope, courage and confidence among the poor and down-trodden people.
She further said that her father gave preference to selfless service to people over power for his people, and it is this sense of sacrifice that needs to be instilled in our youth for the future of our State. Recalling that Late Ganai Sahib was the role model of courage, hope, dignity, empowerment, justice and confidence and he nurtured and strengthened these characteristic and cemented the bonds of love between various sections of the society.  His ultimate goal was political and economic empowerment of the common man and the equitable development of the area, Dr Ganai maintained.
