Tributes paid to Gen Zorawar Singh on martyrdom day

JAMMU, Dec 12: Rich tributes were paid to Dogra warrior General Zorawar Singh on his martyrdom day today and his acts of valour were also recalled.
General Zorawar Singh extended J&K frontiers up to China by annexing Gilgit and Baltistan.
The event was held at Zorawar Chowk, Bahu Plaza here where a large gathering of distinguished senior serving and retired officers of the Army and civil dignitaries paid rich tributes to General Zorawar Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (retired), President Ex-Services League said on December 12, Gen Zorawar Singh was fighting at Toyo against the Chinese and Tibetans near Mansarovar Lake in Tibet where the temperature mostly remains minus 25 degree Celsius.
“General Zorawar Singh is called the Napoleon of the East. He was no less than Napoleon. If Zorawar had born before Napoleon, Napoleon would have been called Zorawar of France,” Gen Goverdhan Singh said adding: “Gen Zorawar has been acclaimed as one of the greatest Generals of the world even by his enemies as Tibetans erected a memorial at the place of his martyrdom and still worship him.”
A simple but meticulous function was held with military precision where floral tributes were paid to the legendry warrior on behalf of 5th and 6th generation of General Zorawar Singh, 7JAK, Ex-serviceman League and General Zorawar Singh Trust.
Col J.P Singh, Col Rajinder Singh, Chairman Devinder Singh (5th Generation of GZS), trustee Diksha and Riya Kaluria (6th Generation of GZS), Sanjeev Singh Manhas, Prof Shalini, Sandhya Gupta, Jugal Kumar and others were also present on the occasion.
