Tributes paid to Kargil martyr Hardeep Singh

SUNDERBANI (Rajouri), July 7: Floral tributes were paid to the Kargil martyr, Hardeep Singh of 8 Sikh Regiment who laid down his life for the country on this day on July 7, 1999 in Kargil war.
Besides family members, a team of Army officers from the Unit, large number of villagers paid homage to the martyr at his memorial in Nowshera sector.
On this occasion, three-day religious Samagam was held, commencing with an ‘Akhand Path’ on July 5, which concluded today. The speakers narrated that three martyrs of this area have laid down their lives during Kargil war which include Gurdeep Singh of village Kanara, who was martyred on July 6, 1999; Hardeep Singh of Rajpur Bhata was martyred on July 7, 1999 and Joginder Singh of Qila Darhal on July 25, 1999.
Tears came down from the eyes of Inder Singh, father of martyr when Army officers and media persons asked some questions. He said we are proud of brave son Hardeep Singh who laid down his life for the own motherland in 1999 Kargil war.
“I have three sons, two expired in 1999. Hardly after four months of his marriage, my son Hardeep Singh was martyred in Kargil War. When my elder son Hardeep Singh martyred in Kargil war, there after hardly 17 days my younger son was also expired due to shock of his elder brother,” Inder Singh narrated.
“After one year, we did marriage of my widow daughter-in-law Balbir Kour with youngest son,” Inder Singh said.
Shaheed’s father further said that during 2003-04 Government allotted gas agency to them and it’s name was Shaheed Hardeep Singh Gas Agency Rajouri. It was opened in Rajouri town. That agency has now been taken over by one Nilesh Gupta of Rajouri by power of attorney. He also changed the name of the said agency as Rajouri Gas Agency. We could not get any benefit of gas agency. He regretted that no officer from Civil Administration attended the programme.
Prominent among those present in the function included, Sarpanch Jasbir Singh, Ex- Havaldar Daljeet Singh, Granthi Swarn Singh, Captain Gurdev Singh, Harjeet Singh, Gurdev Singh and others.
