SAMBA, July 6: Congress today paid rich tributes paid to Kargil martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni on his 20th martyrdom day at village Ploura in Ramgarh.
The programme was organised by Welfare Committee Ramgarh and Shaheed Gurdeep Singh Soni’s parents and other family members. On this occasion, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla and Congress district Samba president Manjit Singh also paid rich floral tributes to Kargil martyr Soni from 8th Sikh Regiment, who laid down his life while defending motherland. Besides parents of martyr, Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large numbers of people of the area were also present to pay floral tributes to the martyr Soni.
Bhalla while paying rich tributes to martyr said that Gurdeep Singh faced the enemy without caring for his life. He sacrificed his life like a true soldier. Saluting the courage of the martyr, he said that the victory in Kargil was an achievement for which the nation is proud of the soldiers and citizens must rededicate themselves to the cause of nation. He described martyr Gurdeep Singh, as hero of his area and strongly criticised the Pakistan for aiding militancy in the State.
Manjit Singh while paying tributes recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs, who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. He said the nation is indebted to the martyrs, it is because of the sacrifices of martyrs that we are able to live in peaceful atmosphere. Singh on the occasion demanded Union Govt for announcement of various welfare measures for the NoKs of the martyrs.
He said Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of India’s military prowess & the great sacrifices our armed forces make while steadfastly keeping India safe. Every Indian acknowledges the efforts and gallantry of our Armed Forces. We salute the ultimate sacrifice of the martyrs of Kargil, and record our everlasting debt to their families,” Singh said.
