Tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri

JAMMU, Oct 3: Rich tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.
Cultural Committee and NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. A symposium and cultural programme was organized, in which students participated actively. The programme was initiated by Dr Renu Gupta under the supervision of Dr Alka Sharma, Convener Cultural Committee and guidance of Dr Savtanter Kour, Programme Officer NSS Committee. Prof Kalpana Kesar, Principal was the chief guest, who while speaking threw light on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Government Degree College, Paloura celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. Floral tributes were paid to Gandhi ji by the principal, faculty members and students. Principal Dr Savitri Sharma in his speech threw light on the importance of the day and also threw light on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Government Degree College, Ramban celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. Dr PS Manhas, HoD physics along with faculty members and students paid floral tributes of Mahatma Gandhi.
A symposium on “Relevance of Gandhism in Present Time” was organised, in which Yog Raj, Rabia Malik and Pooja Shan emerged winners. Prof Mohammad Shahid, HoD English, Prof Deepika Kotwal, Prof Bilal Ahmed Bhat, Dr Muzaffar and Prof Om Raj Katoch, NSS Programme Officer were also present.
Government Higher Secondary School, Pallanwala organized a function to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, in which students and faculty members participated. The speakers including students highlighted the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri during freedom struggle. Principal Nand Kishore in his speech threw light on the life and teachings of both the leaders and asked the students to follow the path of non-violence and peace.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an Inter House Symposium Competition on “Teachings of Gandhi Ji” was organized at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari. In the competition, Archana Kumari, Geeta Kumar and Sonam Gupta emerged winners. Sanjay Kumar Zutshi, Principal in his speech highlighted the importance of the day.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School, Jandrah by students and faculty members of the school. Principal Rajni Kotwal threw light on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Surya Mahashakti Vidya Mandir High School, Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab celebrated birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Kuldeep Kumar Rao, member, All J&K Movement for Peace and Justice and Raj Kumar Bhat, Chief artist TV serials (Dogri films) were the special guests. Students of the school presented a number of cultural items. Managing Director Amita Devi, Principal Usha Sharma, Sunil Kotwal, founder of the school were also present.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at Government Middle School, Galwade Chack, Marh, in which students and faculty members participated actively. Pavas Nagar, Incharge of the school threw light on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
J&K Freedom Fighters Association celebrated Lal Bahadur Shastri in a function held at Shri Mahavir Higher Secondary School, Rani Park. The function was organised under chairmanship of the president, FFA Ved Gandotra. SP Vigilance was the chief guest whereas Sukhminder Singh Maini and Deepak Sharma were the guests of honour, who in their speeches threw light on the life and teachings of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Prof Inder Singh Sodhi, Mohini In-charge High School, Nirmal Sharma, Ashu Sharma, GS Charak, Gajan Singh besides many others were also present.
