SAMBA, July 1: Rich tributes were paid today to martyr Rattan Chand, Rifleman, 12JAK LI, who got martyrdom during Operation Vijay at Kargil in 1999, at his native village—Nandpur.
The villagers, family members and surrounding people assembled at Nandpur Main Chowk near the statue of Martyr Rattan Chand and paid floral tributes to the Martyr.
Ravinder Sharma, SDM Vijaypur and Sub Vikram Singh from 23rd Sikh, who were also present, performed wreath laying ceremony and paid tributes to the Martyr.
While speaking on the occasion, the SDM said “we people are safe due to the Indian Army and those who have sacrifices their lives on border. He said that Martyr Rattan Chand is icon for the youths of J&K and they should follow his foot prints.
