JAMMU, Oct 21: Tributes were paid to the martyrs, who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives while guarding the sovereignty, integrity, on National Police Day across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
JAMMU: “National Police Day” also known as Police Commemoration Day was observed in Jammu with ceremonial Parade at Gulshan Ground. Impressive functions were organized in all 10 districts of Jammu Province where large number of senior police Officers, retired police personnel, members of the martyrs families and members of civil society participated.
In the winter capital Jammu, the main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground where Mukesh Singh Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. GOs of all Jammu based Units, apart from a large number of senior and retired police officers, prominent dignitaries and Citizens of Jammu also participated in the function. ADGP Mukesh Singh read out the name of 377 brave martyrs of the country which includes martyrs from Police Organizations and PMF like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF and FS, CD & HG. Earlier, all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs. A blood donation camp was also organized by Police in collaboration with Team Jammu in which 65 senior police officers and officials and 10 volunteers of the Team Jammu donated blood. Moreover, another impressive function was organized again in the evening at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of Police and Civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the nation.

On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, CRPF jawans and officers of various battalions and institutions located in Jammu paid homage to the martyrs and paid tribute to their martyrdom. GC CRPF Jammu observed Police Commemoration Day in a dignified manner. On this occasion PS Ranpise IGP, Jammu Sector, Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIGP, GC Jammu and all Gazetted Officers, Subordinate Officer and jawans paid homage to the martyrs at the Martyr Memorial and saluted there martyrdom.
Rotary Club Jammu Tawi along with prominent citizens of Jammu paid tributes to martyrs at Martyrs Memorial Rail Head Jammu. Ashok K Gupta IGP (Retd) elaborated on the tough duties of police personnel. Dr Ashok Bhan DGP (Retd) gave whole data of losses suffered by police, army and paramilitary forces. Mukesh Singh ADGP Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who spoke at length about efforts made by J&K Police in bringing militancy under control. Dr Pawan Malhotra Principal ASCOMS, Dr Shashi Sudan Principal GMC and Gaurav Gupta General Secretary Chamber of Commerce also paid rich tributes to martyrs. Governor Elect Rotary Dr Dushyant mentioned that 25 wards of martyrs of J&K Police were given e-Tabs as educational aid. He offered free heart surgeries to needy wards of bravehearts suffering from congenital heart disease. Gifts were also distributed among martyrs families. Raman Wazir President of the Club presented vote of thanks. KB Jandial Retd IAS, Ravinder Kotwal Retd IGP, Chandan Kohli SSP Jammu, galaxy of police officers, Arun Gupta President Chamber of Commerce also attended the function.
VIJAYPUR: Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur observed National Police Day to pay homage to the police martyrs, who laid down their precious lives while maintaining sovereignty, security and integrity of the Country. While speaking, Khalil Ahmed Poswal, SSP, Principal PTTI Vijaypur, briefly explained the history behind the National Police Day. Later, Principal PTTI Vijaypur and other officers laid floral wreaths/showered flowers at the Martyrs Smark.
REASI: National Police Day popularly known as Police Commemoration Day was observed at Martyrs Memorial District Police Lines. Rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs of police and paramilitary forces. Saraf Singh Nag DDC Chairman Reasi, Charandeep Singh Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nisar Hussain CO 126 Bn CRPF, Shiv Deep Singh CO IR 1st, Lt Col. Parvesh 14 Sec RR, Sudesh Puri Chairman MC Reasi along with other prominent citizens paid tributes to the martyrs. Shailender Singh SSP Reasi presided over the Parade function and read the ‘Roll of Honour’ names of the martyrs.
BATOTE: Police Commemoration Day was observed at Range Police Headquarters DKR range. DIG, DKR Range Dr Sunil Gupta paid floral tribute to the martyrs of police along with all officials of RPHQ Batote. Officers from army, CRPF along with civil administration officers participated in the commemoration day function.
DODA: “Police Commemoration Day” was observed at District Police Lines in the memory of Martyrs, who have scarified their lives for the peace and tranquillty of nation. The program was witnessed by the NoKs of police martyrs and other officers of Police, Paramilitary and Civil Administration. Besides Chairman District Development Council Dhananter Singh alongwith other counsellor and Chairman Municipality Committee Doda Ved Parkash Gupta were also present on the occasion. Rich floral tributes were paid to the martyrs by Abdul Qayoom, Additional SP Bhaderwah on behalf of SSP Doda and the dignitaries and beloved of martyrs. CO IRP 5th Bn Sanjeev Kumar, ASP Hqrs Doda Master Popsy, SP Ops Doda Raj Kumar and many others officers of District Administration were also present on the occasion.
KISHTWAR: National Police Day was observed at District Headquarters. An elaborated function was organized in the District Police Lines (DPL) Kishtwar to honour of martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of nation. SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade and readout the names of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them.
RAMBAN: Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Headquarters. SSP Ramban P D Nitya took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade and readout the names of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them. DC Ramban, ADDC Ramban, ADC Ramban and many others were present on the occasion.
SAMBA: National Police Day was observed by Samba Police in District Police Lines, in the memory of martyrs. SSP Samba Rajesh Sharma readout the names of the martyrs and took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade in the honour of martyrs. SSP Samba along with NoKs of Martyrs, officers of Civil Administration, police and security forces, retired police officers and prominent citizens present on the occasion paid floral tribute to police martyrs at Martyr’s Memorial, DPL Samba. The gift items were also distributed among the families of Police Martyrs on the occasion.
UDHAMPUR: Police Commemoration Day parade was observed at DPL pay rich tributes to martyrs. Sargun Shukla, SSP Udhampur presided over the function. And officers of District Police also participated in the function and in Commemoration Day Parade. All the families of police martyrs of District Udhampur besides retired police personnel, prominent citizens and distinguished guests were invited for the Police Commemoration Day Parade to pay homage to police martyrs. Sargun Shukla, SSP Udhampur read over the names of martyrs as a mark of homage, respect and remembrance to the Martyrs.
HANDWARA: Police observed Police Commemoration Day at DPL. SP Handwara Sundeep Gupta, ASP Handwara Mashkoor Ahmad, SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, other senior officers of Police District Handwara, Para military and NOKs of martyred police personnel participated in the occasion for paying tributes to martyred police personnel. SP Handwara read over the names of all police and security personnel, who scarified their lives in the line of duty. SP Handwara also heard the NOKs of martyred police personnel and assured them every possible assistance.
AWANTIPORA: The sacrifices of police in the line of their duties were marked with solemnity on the Police Commemoration Day held at DPL. SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousif paid floral tributes to all martyrs of the police of the country. SSP also read out the list of brave martyrs of the country and paid rich tributes to them. He also distributed gifts and blankets among NOKs of police martyrs.
GANDERBAL: The sacrifices of Police in the line of their duties were marked with solemnity on the Police Commemoration Day held at DPL. SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar paid floral tributes to all martyrs of the police of the Country and also took the salute. DC Ganderbal Kritika Jyotsna, DDC Chairperson Ganderbal Nuzhat Ishfaq, DDC Vice Chairman Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, Commandant CRPF 118 Battalion Dr Satyaveer Verma and many others were present on the occasion.
ANANTNAG: Police Commemoration day was held at DPL here wherein the martyrs were remembered for their sacrifice for the nation. DIG South Kashmir Range Abdul Jabbar, SSP Anantnag Ashish Mishra, Commandants of different CRPF/IRP/Army Battalions and other senior officers of civil and police administration paid rich tributes to the martyrs. The gifts were distributed among the NoKs of martyrs as a token of respect to them. Later, DIG SKR inaugurated a blood donation camp where many police personnel donated blood.
PULWAMA: Police Commemoration Day parade was observed in remembrance of police personnel who achieved martyrdom in the line of duty. The function was held at DPL here to pay homage to those policemen who lost their lives for the peace and integrity of the nation. SSP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani paid floral tributes to martyrs. DC Pulwama Baseer-ul-Haq Khan Chowdhary, ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad, CAPF and other police officers attended the function.
BANDIPORA: Police Commemoration Day was observed by Bandipora Police today at DPL here to pay tributes to martyrs. DC Bandipora Owais Ahmad and SSP Bandipora Mohmmad Zahid presided over the function. Senior officers of police, Army and CRPF attended the function, besides families of police martyrs of district Bandipora, retired police personnel, prominent citizens and distinguished guests were also present.
KARGIL: Police Commemoration Day was observed by District Police Kargil at District Police Lines. SP Kargil Anayat Ali Chowdhary paid floral tributes to all martyrs of the police. SP Kargil took the salute of the Police Commemoration Day Parade. The function was followed by wreath laying and showering of flowers by the officers, jawans, members of martyrs families, teachers and students of Police Public School, Kargil. Ch Iftikhar Ahmed, Additional SP Kargil, Chimba Samstan, DySP DAR, Kargil, District Officers and other police officers attended the function. Later, SP Kargil accompanied with other police officers presented a gift to the mother of martyr Zulfikhar Ali as a token of respect.
