AGARTALA, Sep 16:
Tripura Government has announced to donate Rs 1 crore towards the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Information minister Bhanu Lal Saha stated that council of ministers meeting has taken the decision.
The Government has also appealed to the people of the state to donate individually or group to the distress people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Saha, however, pointed out that the cabinet also directed the civil supplies department to step up to combat inflation of potato and onion, which is selling at Rs 40-50 and Rs 60 per kilo respectively in Tripura.
It imposed control on the stock of onions and potatoes under the Tripura Food Stuff Dealer License Order 2010, so anyone holding stocks of these items beyond limits specified by states will be liable for prosecution.
“The Government was getting complaints that despite adequate supplies, onions and potato prices are shooting up”, said Mr Saha.
The objective of control order is to enable to undertake effective de-hoarding operations by fixing stock limits in respect of these commodities in view of rising prices. (AGENCIES)
