Truck carrying 13 bovines seized, driver arrested

JAMMU, Aug 31: Jhajjar Kotli and Manwal police seized a truck carrying 13 bovine animals and arrested the driver.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Jhajjar Kolti police station and Manwal police post laid a joint naka near Manwal and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AH-5977 to stop.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased the vehicle and intercepted it near some distance.
During search, police rescued 13 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Hamid, son of Haji Mohammad of Kanyala. He was smuggling the bovines to Valley, but their designs were thwarted by the police.
A case under FIR Number 96/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered in this regard at Jhajjar Kotli police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the smugglers.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder and Incharge Manwal police post SI Tribhuvan Khajuria rescued the bovines under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
