KATHUA, July 5: The Truck Operators Union Govindsar Kathua held a protest demonstration today against the delay in implementation of Goods & Services Tax (GST) in the State and demanded its immediate implementation.
The protesters raising slogans in support of GST demanded that the Government should enact the law immediately in this regard as the State has been put to a heavy loss in the shape of taxes due to non implementation of GST.
The protesters, while criticizing the State Government said that it should have started the exercise in this regard well in advance so that the GST could have been implemented in the State on the same day when it was launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
They said that the trade, industry, transporters and the people associated with this kind of business have been affected worst for last five days as no truck enters the State with the goods and essential items.
They said that the traders, industrialists and truckers have suffered a heavy loss due to negligence of the State Government which deliberately created a chaotic situation in the State. Any further delay in this regard will deepen the crisis in the State as even the vegetables don’t enter the State form outside and the people have started facing the scarcity of essential items, they added.
The protesters termed it a deliberate negligence of the Government which could not visualize the repercussions of delaying the implementation of GST beforehand.
