JAMMU, Aug 12: Police arrested a truck driver with a haul of poppy straw in Narwal area here.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Narwal Police Post led by SI Vikas Jasrotia under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03C-8405.
On physical checking of truck, 702 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered, which was concealed under the empty plastic crates.
The driver of the truck identified as Parvez Ahmed Ganie, son of Abdul Ganie of Murran, District Pulwama was arrested on the spot.
A case under FIR Number 202/2020 under section 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
